It’s the first week of 2017, and for many people, this time is when you sit down and evaluate the past year and what you’d do differently if you could. New Year’s “resolutions” are really just goals and/or changes you’d like to add to the coming year, and if your budget is on the table when you’re making your list of resolutions, you could end up asking yourself some questions related to your current insurance coverage.
Perhaps one of the biggest, and most common, insurance questions that come up when we are discussing budgets with potential clients is “Do I really need coverage? Couldn’t I put those monthly premiums to better use elsewhere?” Our answer is, in most cases, a resounding “No!” Here’s why:
Insurance can seem like a lot of money up front. But did you know that with one car accident, one injury, or one unplanned incidental death in your family your lifetime of insurance premiums could have already paid for themselves? Going uncovered means that the cost of new vehicles, a new home, replacement possessions, lost income, etc. would all be coming out of your pocket in the case of an accident, whereas with insurance coverage, you have the peace of mind of knowing you are taken care of when something unexpected comes your way.
While we understand making resolutions to better balance your budget in 2017, your insurance coverage shouldn’t be sacrificed to allow for money to funnel into other areas. Instead of asking yourself if you need insurance, instead ask yourself:
Could I afford to replace my car if something happened to it today?
Could I afford my medical costs if I was injured and required medical care?
Could I survive and keep up my current living expenses without my spouse’s income?
If the answer to any of these questions is “no” then you most certainly need insurance coverage. Fortunately, Carroll Marshall Insurance is here to serve the great Winter Haven area with advice and assistance in planning insurance coverage and helping meet not only your coverage needs, but also your budget.
