Health is at the forefront of everyone’s mind right now in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. Obviously, there’s no medical prevention or cure, but there are ways you can boost your own natural immunity and keep yourself healthier during this time. How?
Walk It Out
Something as simple as adding walking to your daily routine can help you lose weight, improve heart health and circulation, and improve mental clarity in addition to making you better able to fight off illness. Walking offers lots of benefits, yet is gentle enough for people of just about any age and ability to do! It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Stuck at home with the kids? Head out with them! You’ll be a great model of staying healthy, and they’ll be exercising right along with you! As long as you maintain social distance and aren’t in public areas, walking the sidewalks in your own neighborhood, or even walking laps around your own backyard, are great ways to get in your steps.
Water, Water Everywhere…
We all know that drinking water is important for our health. By getting in your recommended daily ounces, you’ll be less likely to overeat, your body will be more efficient at digesting food, and you will flush more toxins out of your system. Don’t enjoy plain water? “Spice it up” by throwing some of your favorite fruits into a pitcher of water and storing it in the fridge. It will be good for 2 or 3 days at a time, and the fruit will infuse the water with flavor and some healthy vitamins! Good combinations include a mixture of berries, orange and lemon, or cucumber and mint!
Get Your Zzzzs
Proper rest is important at any age, and if your goal is to boost your immunity and get healthy, you need to start by evaluating your sleep pattern. If you aren’t getting enough rest, your body won’t be functioning at its best, meaning you won’t be as healthy as you can be. Proper rest not only makes you feel better, but it also means you are more likely to stick to a workout routine and eating healthy (also important for your immune system.) Additionally, getting plenty of sleep means your mind will be more alert and focused during the day, and you can get more done! That means more time for exercise, work, keeping up with your kids, etc.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with all of you, and we hope everyone stays healthy until we can be out enjoying face to face time again. If you have questions or need support regarding your coverage during this time, we are still here working for you and are available by phone or Email!
